Shilpa and I were lucky enough to jet off to New York last weekend courtesy of Four Seasons Recruitment. Awarded for our contribution to the business over the last 12 months, the prize included return flights, accommodation and spending money for 3 nights. After checking in at the beautiful Warwick Hotel – we set off to check out some sights! First up was Times Square – think Leicester Square times 100!! From there we jumped on the Hop on Hop off tour (for the New York newbies like me!) After ticking that box off we hightailed it out of there and moved onto the real event of the weekend .... SHOPPING! Is the shopping better in New York compared to London?

Is it as cheap as they say? Hard to say for sure. In terms of stores, there wasn’t too much you couldn’t get in London – but the American brands and make up were among the steals! Hello Sephora! Either way Madison Avenue and 5th Avenue were certainly pretty amazing and dare I say a little easier to shop than Bond St?! Any luxury store you can think of is here – and the service is second to none! From the amazing Louis Vuitton store to the original Tiffany New York, shopping definitely is as exciting as London. There was time to take in Soho, Bloomingdales, and Macy’s – we shopped till we dropped!!

Sunday was all about taking in some famous sites, from our tour of Central Park – seeing the Friends fountain, John Lennon’s memorial and where 100’s of New York films have been made. To taking in the Empire State Building and Grand Central Station where we visited the fabulous food market – cue a slice of red velvet cheesecake! and visiting Ground Zero – certainly the most humbling experience of our trip. After 3.5 fantastic days it was back to the airport for our return to London! Thank you Malcolm and Claire for a once in a lifetime trip – we will be working hard to be off to Miami next year!
