To relocate, or not to relocate...

When looking for your next position ask yourself this question: What if my dream job was on the other side of the world? If this question leaves you considering an exciting new move with no question, then here are some tips on what to consider before you click Apply.

Research, research, research: This is vital to do before any move. If you research the country, city or town you are considering moving to there will be no surprises along the way. Things can be very different in other countries such as the cost of living so it's so important to check. If you are lucky you might find a company who offer a relocation package, but this isn't always the case.

Salary: Once all your research is done look at your outgoings and see what salary is realistic. If it means taking a big drop in salary and the cost of living is very high this obviously won't work.

A good reason to move: Do you have family or friends in this country? If not, it's worth thinking about how easy it is to return home if needed. Also, it makes things a little bit more easier when you have someone you know in an unfamiliar place.

The company: Like with any job application you want to make sure the company is right for you. Again, research the company and find out as much as you can. Find out if any of the other employees have relocated. If you are using an agency they should be able to give you as much information as possible, so ask ask ask!

The most important point here is you need to be 100% ready. If it doesn't feel quite right then find out what your concerns are. If there are too many concerns it might not be the right move. Again ask yourself, what if my dream job was on the other side of the world?
