Recently launched Lipsy & Co set to dominate the branded market for AW15 and beyond

As the Buying Consultant here at Four Seasons Recruitment I am fortunate to work with a number of fantastic clients; ranging from emerging fashion brands, established high street retailers and multi-brand stores as well as a host of luxury names.

With product at the core of all our clientele, the Buyers role is imperative and I work to assist our partners with hiring the best talent in the market – whether this be for their own label development, or within a multi-brand selection led role.

One of the things I find most fulfilling is supporting brands during periods of change, expansion or whilst exploring new business avenues. Through delivering a truly consultative service I get to experience the journey with them and assist with driving their success through effective hires.

At present I am proud to be partnering with Lipsy, best known for delivering the hottest catwalk trends to their high street customer.

Founded in the heart of London, Lipsy was first established as a wholesale brand in 1988, before opening a number of concessions within Topshop and other department stores.
Due to continued success Lipsy went on to launch their online store in 2006, which was soon followed by their first retail store in London back in 2008.

2008 was a huge year for the brand as they were also acquired by Next, elevating them further within the UK market place.

Today Lipsy have in excess of 80 stores internationally and in the UK as well as concessions within major department stores worldwide. Lipsy also trade internationally via several franchise partners.

They have successfully collaborated with a number of key celebrities including Kim, Kourtney and Khloe Kardashian as well as Pixie Lott and Michelle Keegan. This winter they soon announce a major new celebrity brand partnership.

In addition to statement dresses, many people are not aware that Lipsy successfully designs and sells an outstanding collection of separates, outerwear and knitwear or that the business has successfully launched its 5th fragrance, that it sells beauty products and has licensed product across several categories including watches and jewellery.

May 2015 saw Lipsy move to a brand new head office space on Tottenham Court Road, London, W1 allowing them more space for expansion. Lipsy has big plans – with a real focus being the growth of their multi-branded offering.

Whilst Lipsy are best known for their own label designs, they also offer a multi-brand offering via their online store as well as via – the UK’s most visited fashion website. Already partnering with companies such as Fiorelli, Bestseller Group (Only, Vero Moda), Morgan, Naf Naf, Little Mistress, Yumi and Motel, Lipsy currently deliver an array of vibrant and trend driven pieces suited to the Lipsy girl.

In March 2015 Lipsy launched a printed catalogue, Lipsy and Co, which is set to expand further for Winter 2015. Having started selling brands just a few years ago, Lipsy now expect significant sales growth in the next 12-months and foresee huge growth and opportunity within this area. Consequently Lipsy are looking to make a new addition to their senior Buying team, a Head of Branded Buying.

This is an amazing opportunity for those already working at a senior level with relevant multi-brand experience and looking for a new and fulfilling challenge. The Lipsy business has a dynamic team first culture and the positive work environment is something people talk about.

With full autonomy you will be responsible for implementing an effective buying strategy; engaging with further brands, building successful partnerships and ultimately delivering the best branded product mix for the Lipsy customer.

The Lipsy customer is fun, outgoing and has a real love for life. She enjoys following the latest celebrity happenings and aspires to lead such a lifestyle. She loves all things glam and enjoys getting dressed up for a special occasion and with this in mind the multi-brand opportunities are endless.

As Head of Buying for all brands you will engage with and educate external brands on the opportunities Lipsy can provide them within the high street marketplace.

Leading an enthusiastic team of approximately 6 people (and growing) you will carefully select Apparel, as well as Footwear and Accessories appropriate to the Lipsy customer.
You will partner with your Merchandising and Marketing colleagues to ensure the branded offer reaches the Lipsy customer and allows her to continue to buy in to the lifestyle she desires.

Working closely with the Buying Director you will ensure that the branded offer compliments Lipsy’s own range and allows the customer to mix and match pieces to form the perfect outfit.

The successful candidate will currently be working as Buying Manager, or already at Head of Buying level, within a volume driven, fashion conscious multi-brand business.

If you are interested to learn more about this truly unique and exciting opportunity, please do get in touch today with your CV and note of interest. From here I will ensure I contact you in order to discuss the opportunity in more detail. I look forward to hearing from you!
