Twitter is launching a "Buy now" button allowing users to make purchases straight from their twitter account.
Retailers post tweets about their products, and if followers want to buy them they can click the “Buy now” button which takes them to another screen where they are shown further details of the item on offer, and given the chance to choose options – such as size for clothing. They are then asked to enter their payment and address details. These will rest on file with Twitter so that future purchases can be done with just a couple of clicks.
With big brands including Burberry already trialing this feature, this looks like it could be a big advancement in the partnership between social media and e-commerce.
