Our client is a leading High Street Retailer whom are looking for a Outerwear Designer. The role involves creating, together with the Design Team a Strategic Design Brief in line with the Business Area Strategy.



Outerwear Designer - The role



To create, together with the Design Team a Strategic Design Brief in line with the Business Area Strategy/visualise outstanding new product designs with and the Brand handwriting in line with sub-brand or product dept strategy.



*Designing the right product at the right time to meet customer requirements for the sub-brand or product department
*Identifying and delivering detailed style direction to develop existing products, as well as proposing new product opportunities
*Researching lifestyle trends and inputting the appropriate ones into the business area product development strategy through the Head of Design
*Briefing buyers on key products/materials/fabrics
*Providing input to the marketing plan for the sub-brand or product department & product strategy for the sub-brand or product department
*Providing input to the range development plan for the sub-brand or product department
*Participating in supplier briefings with Buyer and Quality Assurors, updating designs when appropriate
*Advising Buyer on styling & on selecting samples
*Providing input to product phasing
*Providing input to range cataloguing
*Motivating, development and training of Design teams



Outerwear Designer - The person



Ability to translate fashion trends into commercial design concepts for the customer.



*Understanding of the customer
*Knowledge of the concepts of brand strategy and vision
*Broad understanding of current competitive marketplace - ability to comparative shop effectively
*Ability to directional shop effectively
*Skilled in visualising design concepts (by hand or on PC/MAC)
*Knowledge of buying calendar (critical path)
*Designing to fit commercial cataloguing requirements
*Able to fully utilise the relevant IT support systems, and to be fully conversant with standard business desktop applications.
